About St. Charles Rehabilitation
St. Charles Rehabilitation is Long Island's rehabilitation leader, boasting both an acute rehabilitation hospital in Port Jefferson, New York and nine distinguished outpatient rehabilitation network locations across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
St. Charles is the only Long Island hospital holding accreditation for comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient medical rehabilitation from CARF, the global leader in rehabilitation accreditation. St Charles is the first on Long Island to achieve this distinction and has maintained it since 2008 while also adding additional accreditations for our Specialty Programs in Pediatric Rehabilitation, Stroke Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
Through a robust program of professional education events and research investigations on leading-edge therapies, St. Charles is helping advance clinical knowledge in the rehabilitation field. Studies conducted at St. Charles have explored some of the newest technologies, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and the Indego® Exoskeleton, a robotic which allows adults with a partial spinal cord injury or stroke to stand and walk while seeking to improve their stride. To provide patients with the type of opportunities that have come to expect from the top rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S., St. Charles has opened these studies to patients in our hospital programs in acute rehabilitation.
Our mission of compassionate care spans more than a century and one way we keep this mission alive is by offering free and low-cost community programs which emphasize education and help Long Island residents stay injury-free and active at every stage of life. In conjunction with our support groups, these programs reach former patients and caregivers, as well as individuals in our surrounding communities who have never needed treatment at St. Charles.
