Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program
The cardiac rehab program at St. Charles Rehabilitation is an outpatient speciality program combining a telemetry-monitored exercise with education to help patients achieve a healthier lifestyle after a heart incident or surgery. A supplemental wellness program is available for those who have completed cardiac rehab and wish to continue exercising at St. Charles.
Our admission process requires a full evalutation by St. Charles Rehabilitation's Medical Director for Cardiac Rehab and a comprehensive assessment by a St. Charles therapist.

Telemetry-monitored exercise at St. Charles includes:
- Customization to each patient based on the comprehensive assessment and personal goals
- Exercise completed under the expert care of a St. Charles cardiac rehab clinician
- Sessions run one hour, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. Each session includes initial setup, pre and post-exercise vital signs assessment, warm-up/cool-down.
- Cardiovascular/endurance training, upper and lower body strengthening and flexibility training
At St. Charles, we begin educating patients during their evaluation with our Medical Director and continue educating throughout the course of the Cardiac Rehab program. In addition to discussions during exercise sessions, St. Charles offers weekly scheduled lectures about cardiac symptoms and related health issues, such as:
- Valve disease
- Heart failure
- Sleep Apnea
- Diabetes and Heart Health
- Nutrition for Health Health
- Stress Management Techniques
- Blood Pressure Control
- Weight Management Strategies
The Wellness Program is offered following completion of a telemetry-monitored cardiac rehab program. Professional staff at St. Charles determine eligibility for this supplemental program. Classes in the Wellness Program take place for 1 hour, two times a week for 12 weeks.
