St. Charles offers two separate rehabilitation tracks:
St. Charles Rehabilitation's outpatient specialty programs in Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehabilitation are designed for those recently discharged home from the ICU or cardiac care unit with physician referral for outpatient rehabilitation.
Hospital-Based Acute Rehabilitation
St. Charles Rehabilitation's hospital-based cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program is for those with cardiovascular or pulmonary conditions whose medical status or disease progression warrants hospital-based acute rehabilitation before returning home.

The cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program at St. Charles provides intensive rehabilitation to the most critical patients with a cardiovascular or pulmonary conditions.
Our cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program is situated within St. Charles Hospital, which means that care is delivered by physiatrists, who are rehab doctors specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and by certified rehabilitation registered nurses. Patients also gain peace of mind from knowing that St. Charles Hospital’s cardiac care unit, rapid response team and board-certified cardiologists, intensivists and vascular and respiratory specialists are close at hand.
Patients in our cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program receive physical and occupational therapy in an intensive, coordinated format for three or more hours each day, 5 days a week. They are immersed in Downtown St. Charles, a unique rehabilitation environment that is the first of it's kind on Long Island and enables them to practice real-world adaptive skills while still in the hospital.
Following discharge from the hospital-based cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program at St. Charles, our patients are in prime position to return to St. Charles for treatment through our outpatient specialty programs in Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
