Physicians (Rehab Doctors)
At St. Charles Rehabilitation, your care is managed daily by physicians with expertise and residency training in the medical field of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). Formally called physiatrists, the rehab doctors at St. Charles are nerve, muscle, bone and brain specialists who diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move. The physiatric approach to patient care considers the whole person and not just one symptom or condition.
Rehab doctors at St. Charles are board-certified in their field and possess sub-specialty certifications in areas such as brain injury medicine. They oversee each patient's care, from admission to discharge, and oversee each patient's personal team of clinicians.
The rehab doctors at St. Charles also conduct research examining the latest technological advances in rehabilitation, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for stroke rehabilitation and Long Island's first Indego Exoskeleton for spinal cord injury (SCI) and stroke.
