Yu Jen Lai, MD
Dr. Lai is board certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Internal Medicine. He serves as the Director of the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at St. Charles, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Lai's areas of interest include cardiac, pulmonary and orthopedic rehabilitation, and he oversees medically complex patients admitted for inpatient rehabilitation.
Dr. Lai received his medical degree from Faculdade de Medicine do ABC, Brazil, and completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Hospital Brigadeiro, Brazil. Upon immigrating to the United States, Dr. Lai completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New York, and a residency on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.
Dr. Lai has numerous publications including posters, reviews and case reports including Recovery from Stroke Secondary to HELLP Syndrome, Spontaneous Internal Carotid Artery Dissection in a Patient Using Anabolic Steroids, and Total Femur Replacement and Total Knee Replacement for Limb Salvage Surgery. Dr. Lai is fluent in Spanish, Portugese, Taiwanese, and Chinese.
